2023 Outback Wilderness
The 2023 Subaru Outback Wilderness is the ultimate expression of the legendary capability of the Outback line. In addition to its standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, Outback Wilderness is loaded with off-road-ready upgrades to take you farther than ever before.
Standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive
The 2023 Outback Wilderness is built around the time- and trail-tested capability of standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, which features a balanced design to create uniform stability and deliver an optimal distribution of power for maximum traction in virtually any weather, road, or trail condition.
9.5 Inches of Ground Clearance with Front Skid Plate, Improved Angles, and Enhanced X-MODE®
With an elevated ground clearance of 9.5 inches and a standard front skid plate, you can take the Outback Wilderness into rougher terrain. The front and rear bumpers have been designed for improved approach and departure angles so you can easily clear larger obstacles. The dual-function X-MODE has also been upgraded and re-tuned, with settings for deep snow, sand, and mud that allow additional wheel slip to power through adverse conditions.
Off-Road Wheels with All-Terrain Tires and Full-Size Spare
Standard 17-inch matte-black alloy off-road wheels and all-terrain Yokohama GEOLANDAR® tires provide improved performance in even the toughest trail conditions. A full-size spare is hidden below the cargo area for extra peace of mind when you’re out on the trail.
Standard Direct-Injection Turbocharged SUBARU BOXER® Engine and Re-Tuned Gearing
Outback Wilderness features a standard 260-horsepower direct-injection turbocharged SUBARU BOXER engine that delivers 277 pound-feet of torque and 3,500 pounds of towing capacity1. The drivetrain features re-tuned gearing with revised front and rear gear ratios for improved low-speed climbing – up to a 40% grade.
Rugged, Practical Style
The daring Outback Wilderness exterior is eye-catching at any altitude with its available Geyser Blue paint – exclusive to Wilderness family vehicles. It features a design philosophy that’s both functional and dynamic, with protective cladding, blacked-out trim, and matte-black finish wheels set off by unique Anodized Copper-finish accents.
Reinforced Roof Rails
The reinforced roof rails are set off with Anodized Copper-finish accents and are able to support the weight of a rooftop tent2 so you can quickly turn the Outback Wilderness into your comfortable expedition basecamp.
Anti-Glare Hood Design
The Outback Wilderness makes picking out your path a little easier, with a unique matte-black hood decal to help reduce glare out on the trail.
Built to Go Rough – Not to Rough It
The rugged capability and thoughtful features of the Outback Wilderness include its advanced, convenient cabin. Comfortable StarTex® upholstery stands up to the elements while highlighting the unique contrast stitching and Anodized Copper-finish accents throughout the interior. In back, an LED cargo lamp in the rear gate helps you find your gear after sundown. When you’re inside the Outback Wilderness, the most inhospitable environments can feel downright cozy.
Textured Water-Repellent StarTex® Upholstery
The Outback Wilderness isn’t just rugged on the outside. The interior is protected with durable StarTex® water-repellent upholstery featuring a textured honeycomb design.
Flexible Fold-Down Rear Seating
Get the flexibility to accommodate even more cargo with 60/40-split flat-folding seatbacks that feature protective seat-back material to stand up to wear and tear from passengers, pets, and gear.
SUBARU STARLINK® Multimedia with Standard 11.6-inch Touchscreen
The 2023 Outback Wilderness features a standard STARLINK Multimedia system with an 11.6-inch touchscreen plus wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ integration3. Wireless Bluetooth® pairing and hands-free smartphone operation allow for safe and easy connection to your favorite apps and content.
Standard EyeSight® Driver Assist Technology
The 2023 Outback Wilderness features standard EyeSight Driver Assist Technology, which monitors traffic movement, optimizes cruise control, and warns you when you’re swaying outside your lane4. The Automatic Pre-Collision Braking feature can apply full braking force and bring you to a complete stop in emergency situations. EyeSight and other safety features in the Outback Wilderness have been calibrated to match its increased ground clearance and extensive off-road upgrades.
Equipment You Can Count On
You and your Outback Wilderness are going to have a lot of adventures together. Of all the Outback vehicles sold in the past 10 years, 97% are still on the road today5 – more than Toyota RAV4 or Honda CR-V.
