Wish kid Abbey, who is five-years old and has Leukemia, picked her wish to go to the Aulani resort, because she could do her three favorite things there: swim in the ocean, see dolphins and meet princesses. And she added, having a tea party with a unicorn would really complete her wish. Capitol Subaru never wants to let down a wish kid, so they planned a magical tea party wish reveal for Abbey. A princess and a unicorn greeted Abbey as the Capitol Subaru team let her know that her wish was coming true! Immediately Abbey only had eyes for the unicorn named Olaf. Olaf was very well behaved and allow Abbey to pet him when ever she wanted. Abbey not only had tea and cupcakes with a Princess, but she and her brother also got their faces painted by her. Sparkle paint is always magical. Abbey was also gifted with a suitcase, backpack and other treats for her wish trip. Abbey's tea party brought the Share the Love message to life, community coming together to create and share some joy. It was the perfect kick-off for the 2024 Share the Love event and I know Abbey and her family will be talking about her tea party for a long time! Thank you, Capitol Subaru, for helping grant wishes like Abbey's and for making her feel so special. We're so grateful to be your hometown partner for the 8th year.

Two days after a heartwarming adoption event at Capitol Subaru, we were eager to bring the community together again to support pets in need. This time, we partnered with PAWS FOR SJACS, hosting an outdoor adoption clinic in our parking lot, with free vaccinations for the first 36 pets who signed up with reservations. Turned out to be a beautiful morning, with a buzz of excitement and smiles, as volunteers set up tents, tables, and water stations for the doggies and visitors. Throughout the day, we saw countless connections and happy faces. By the end, all 36 spots were filled, and we knew this would be an event worth hosting every year. The turnout and enthusiasm were a testament to the community’s love and commitment to keeping our best friends healthy, and we’re excited to keep this tradition going. We cannot thank Randee and her team from PAWS FOR SJACS enough, for their dedication and love for these furry friends. They were quite organized and very efficient, to make this event an absolute success!

Every year, Capitol Subaru hosts an adoption event with the Silicon Valley Pet Project, where families come hoping to find a new furry friend. This year, however, the event became the scene of an unexpected reunion. Brian, whose dog Ariel had gone missing a month earlier, arrived after receiving a tip from his niece, who had seen a social media post about the event featuring a dog that looked just like her. His heart stopped when he spotted the familiar face of Ariel, a dog fostered by Christina, who had bonded with her over the past few weeks, and named her “Boogie”, due to her eye boogers… Once reunited, Christina, watching with tears in her eyes, knew “Boogie’s” true home was with Brian. Capitol Subaru’s annual event brought a family back together, reminding everyone present of the incredible power of love and the deep bonds between pets and their people.

At Capitol Subaru, we are lucky to be part of a dealer group whose values align with Subaru's. DGDG sponsored a walkathon fundraiser at California's Great America, Walk For Wishes. A few of us from Capitol Subaru and DGDG showed up to volunteer and join the beautiful walk through the iconic theme park to fundraise and help grant wishes for children facing critical illnesses throughout the greater Bay Area. We were so happy to help!

For the past several years, Capitol Subaru has partnered with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) and El Camino Health through the Subaru Loves to Care initiative. The partnership has involved delivering blankets, patient care kits, and messages of hope to cancer patients. This initiative has spread so much hope, love, and warmth to cancer patients in this local community! On June 19th, Adam Tracey and others from Capitol Subaru personally delivered these items to patients in treatment. The hospital staff were incredibly grateful for the gracious donation and it was such a beautiful moment when the staff handed them out to patients. Linda from El Camino Health said "Precious to see smiles on the patient’s faces as they are leaving with their blankets!"

Thank you Subaru for your support to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Silicon Valley and the positive impact it has had on the children in need. Providing coats, socks, and shoes to over 250 kids during the winter season is a wonderful initiative that helps ensure the well-being and comfort of these young individuals. Supporting organizations like the Boys and Girls Clubs of Silicon Valley is crucial in helping children access essential items and resources that they may not have access to otherwise. By partnering with community organizations and giving back to those in need, companies like Subaru contribute to creating a more inclusive and supportive environment for children and families facing challenges. Initiatives like this not only provide tangible support in the form of clothing and essentials but also send a message of care, compassion, and solidarity to those who may be struggling. It is heartwarming to see businesses like Subaru making a positive impact in the community and supporting the well-being of children who are the future generation. Kudos to Subaru for their commitment to giving back and making a difference in the lives of children through their partnership with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Silicon Valley. Such acts of kindness and generosity truly make a difference and inspire others to come together and support those in need.

Capitol Subaru teamed up with Operation Warm and provided over 200 pairs of shoes and coats for kids at the Boys and Girls Club, Edenvale. The kids were so excited and had huge smiles on their faces when they got to pick out their shoes and coats, It was as if they were at an ice cream shop, picking flavors and toppings. They all looked very sharp in their new gear and Capitol Subaru showed up just in time for the next storm, to keep these awesome kids warm!! Thank you

Capitol Subaru kicked off the 2023 Share the Love event in full force with Richie's Star Wars Themed Wish Send-Off party. Richie, who suffers from a neuromuscular disorder, was so excited for his wish trip to Disney World. He couldn't wait to go to the Star War's themed Galaxy's Edge and see his favorite characters. When Capitol Subaru learned of Richie's love of all things Star Wars, they planned an out of this world party. Characters from Golden Gate Garrison and Rebel Endor Base were there to surprise Richie and his family. With the iconic movie theme playing the characters shook Richie's hand, took photos, let him play with their lightsabers and gave him legion patches. The Capitol Subaru team provided Richie's favorite treats and a gift basket full of his favorite things. Riche's smile was so big, it might have been visible in the next galaxy. Thank you, Capitol Subaru, for helping to grant wishes like Richie's and for making his wish experience so special.

An ordinary Thursday afternoon ended up being unlike any others. When our reps at Make-A-Wish Greater Bay Area let us know that it was time to plan our next Subaru Share the Love wish reveal, we eagerly awaited the details. We learned that we would have the honor of revealing to 10-year-old Richie that his wish was coming true! He and his family would be heading to Disney World in a few short weeks. We adore Richie’s family and couldn’t wait! Last year we got to reveal a wish to Richie’s brother, Isaiah, who also shares the same neuromuscular disorder. Richie loves Star Wars and wanted nothing more than to make a lightsaber at Disney World. We, at Capitol Subaru, knew we needed to bring out all the stops with this wish reveal. We reached out to the Golden Gate Garrison and Rebel Endor Base, two amazing local costuming groups that were so happy to join in on the surprise. More than a dozen volunteers helped transform the service drive at Capitol Subaru into a wish come true for Richie. Picture this, seemingly average adults lugging giant totes filled with costumes into a dealership conference room, reappearing shortly after, transformed into Star Wars characters. The team at Capitol Subaru was as excited as Richie was to see everyone. The movies iconic songs playing in the background. Phones out capturing the moment that Richie and his family would not soon forget. Richie’s favorite movie brought to life right before his eyes. Richie had an experience of a lifetime. He kept looking up at all of them in complete awe. The characters were beyond kind to Richie and his family. Shaking hands, taking photos, lightsaber battles, and more. The smile on Richie’s face could not have been bigger. He kept telling his parents, ‘Look, a Stormtrooper!’ This is what Subaru Share the Love is all about. Sharing the Love. Bringing the community together to share some joy. The force was strong with this one.

In honor of Subaru Loves Pets month, Capitol Subaru teamed up with the Silicon Valley Pet Project to host a Puppy Pawty at our store featuring several adorable pups available for adoption. Silicon Valley Pet Project is a nonprofit organization committed to saving local at-risk shelter pets and is a perfect partner for us at Capitol Subaru. SVPP is dedicated to animal rescue by involving the community in new ways to help save the lives of homeless cats and dogs. The Subaru Loves Pets and Make A Dog’s Day Adoption Event is always one of the most anticipated for our team. The energy in the showroom was electric as everyone awaited the arrival of the pups. Samson, Sunny, and German Shepherd tripod Coco were in attendance, along with Pepper and her 4 puppies. The SVPP volunteers were on hand to answer questions about volunteering, fostering, and adopting a furry friend in need. The dogs knew it was their time to shine as they strutted their stuff as they entered the showroom! They zoomed from person to person and the dealership soon filled with the blur of wagging tails. Customers were in for a treat as they came in to purchase a car or pick up their vehicle from service. The puppies, named Cinnamon, Ginger, Licorice, and Mint even got to hang out in the back of a Subaru Solterra and pose for some photos with their new Chewbaru toys! We are so proud to partner with a great rescue like SVPP and look forward to helping them with their mission and finding some deserving pups their forever homes.

In honor of National Truck Driver Appreciation Week, the team at Capitol Subaru took the opportunity to show some love to all the delivery drivers! Truck drivers are a critical part of our business and we are grateful for their hard work day in and day out! Fabian, our Parts Manager had the fun role of surprising more than 20 delivery drivers with gift cards and thanking them for all they do. It was so rewarding to be able to be the one to ‘deliver!’ They deserve the recognition and we were more than happy to support #NTDAW23 and #ThankATrucker.

The team at Capitol Subaru was thrilled when when we learned that we were chosen as one of only twelve Subaru retailers across the country to participate in their Week of Wishes Campaign with Make-A-Wish®. Since 2018, Capitol Subaru has fostered such an amazing partnership with our friends at Make-A-Wish Greater Bay Area. Through the Subaru Share the Love® Event, we have raised enough funds for 32 wishes, totaling over $320,000. We learned that we would be revealing to Wish Kid, Moises, that he will be going to Hawaii in October. After battling end-stage kidney disease, and recovering from a kidney transplant, this trip was well deserved. Our team was determined to transform the service drive into a tropical paradise to welcome Moises to his wish reveal luau. With Hawaiian music playing and the Legacy of the Pacific Hulu dancers in attendance, Moises unsuspectedly walked up to Subaru with his sister and niece, thinking they were just running errands. As Moises’ wish coordinator approached, it all started to make sense to Moises. He jumped for joy when he saw the signs saying that he was going to Hawaii. Moises was so sweet and beyond appreciative for not only the trip, but for the entire day. The smile never left his face and the Subaru team fought back happy tears as Moises radiated pure joy. He joined the Subaru team in a hula dance and enjoyed shaved ice from Kona Ice. The entire community came together to celebrate Moises. His story was featured all over the local news outlets that evening. The day went better than we could have ever hoped for and we are so happy for Moises. Aloha!

On July 18th, 2023, Capitol Subaru surprised Moises, a 20-year-old with end stage kidney disease, with a Hawaiian themed celebration and the news that his wish to go to Hawaii was being granted. Capitol Subaru and DGDG turned the retail store into a Hawaiian paradise. Moises and family watched hula dancers from the Legacies of Pacific perform and enjoyed refreshments from a Kona Ice Truck. Moises even joined Subaru employees and Make-A-Wish Greater Bay Area team members on the dance floor to learn a hula dance. He also received a gift bag with goodies to take on his Hawaiian adventure. Thank you, Capitol Subaru for helping to make wishes like Moises' come true and for making his wish experience even more special.

On a warm summer day in July, the team at Capitol Subaru was focused on one thing: warm blankets. With arms full of big Subaru blue boxes, the team eagerly met the amazing staff at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center to deliver a Subaru Loves to Care® blanket donation in partnership with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society®. The wonderful oncology nurses graciously accepted the gift and expressed just how much a warm blanket during treatment means to the patients. That a small token of comfort during a difficult journey can help them feel less alone and more supported. Capitol Subaru is grateful for the opportunity to give back and is committed to being an active member of the community.

Capitol Subaru teamed up with LifeMoves for the Subaru Loves to Help® campaign in February of 2023. LifeMoves operates 26 shelters in the Bay Area, helping those from all walks of life get the resources needed to get back on their feet and in stable housing. After talking to the team at LifeMoves, we realized that a trip to the shelter was in order to fully understand what some of our neighbors in need truly experience day in and day out. With 1,000 pairs of socks and a car loaded to the brim with a warm Chipotle meal, the team at Capitol Subaru was in store for a night we wouldn’t soon forget. The 85 residents and the staff at Julian Street Inn welcomed the team of 10 from Capitol Subaru with open arms. In a building rich with architectural design and history, the residents bravely shared their personal stories of trials and triumph. The room was filled with genuine joy and laughter as the residents ate a meal together served by our team followed by an ice cream bar that you could only dream of. Before the night was done, the residents presented us with handwritten thank you notes. Genuine gratitude for spending time with them. For listening. For really seeing them. “We LOVED having Capitol Subaru at LifeMoves Julian Street Inn! The energy your team brought made a big difference in the lives of the clients & shelter staff,” said Stefanie Bruggeman, Director Corporate Partnerships, LifeMoves. “We work with folks when they are at their lowest, and this type of positive support brings a tremendous lift for everyone.” While the residents left with warm food in their bellies and warm socks on their feet, the team at Capitol Subaru left with things perfectly put into perspective and remembering just how much joy comes from helping.

We have loved partnering with Subaru for the month of October, Underdog Animal Rescue is a foster based rescue with fosters living all over the Bay Area. We take in dogs from shelters as well as public surrenders when an owner can no longer care for their dog. Many of our dogs come from the rural Central Valley where there are not many rescue resources available. We consider every dog we save an "Underdog", many with very sad stories of being dumped by the people they loved. One dog in particular that was adopted in October was DaVinci. DaVinci was a 4.5 month old puppy found in an orchard abandoned with 6 other dogs that we believe were family members. He and his sister had a severe case of demodex and sat in the shelter for almost 2 months with no adoption or rescue interest. We found an amazing foster to take both dogs in and brought them to the Bay Area at the end of August. We knew we could get them healed and ready for adoption. But, we did not expect for it to take so long for DaVinci to be adopted! In mid October he was still in his foster home with almost no interest. Until his perfect Mom applied and adopted him on October 31st making him the perfect candidate for our love story! We are so happy for DaVinci and the second chance he has at a fabulous life! We are so thankful for the support of Capitol Subaru and their Subaru Loves Pets initiative.

Safe Driving Video Contest/Scholarship In October, Capitol Subaru hosted a press conference to introduce the Safe Driving Video Contest/Scholarship program to the Silicon Valley. The concept was simple; high school students were given the opportunity to work with their friends to create a video centered around Safe Driving for teens - topics included being a safe passenger, texting and driving, and drunk driving. Capitol Subaru and the Del Grande Dealer Group committed to sponsoring this contest, gave a cash donation, and hosted the Awards ceremony. Along with the District Attorney's office, San Jose Police Department, and City Council. In January, the videos were submitted and judging commenced. The winners were announced in front of a packed house (hosted by Capitol Subaru). Members of the media and public service organizations watched as the videos were highlighted and scholarship money was awarded to the top three videos.

Second Harvest Food Bank During the month of November, Capitol Subaru (A proud member of the Del Grande Dealer Group) rallied their troops to collect food for Second Harvest Food Bank. Bins were placed in the Subaru showroom, and salespeople, finance managers, service advisors, and all Subaru staff members spread the word. When customers were called to pick up their vehicles, they were asked to bring in a can to donate. Staff posted flyers on their Facebook pages about what Capitol Subaru and Del Grande Dealer Group were trying to do. And in the end, on the day before Thanksgiving, Capitol Subaru donated three barrels of food to Second Harvest Food Bank.
Did Capitol Subaru go above and beyond, provide exceptional service, or support causes that are important to you? We'd love to hear about it.
